S.O.A.K.S. (Summer’s {almost} Over At Kent Station)

Free Family Event

Kent, Washington, August 10, 2015– Kent Station is partnering with Road Runner Sports to host a fun end-of-summer event for the whole family. Ramsay Way will be shut down to make room for activity booths as well as a bouncy house, gyroscope and an obstacle course sponsored in part by Clowns Unlimited.

Road Runner Sports puts on an Adventure Run the third Thursday of every month from April through October. This year will be the third annual S.O.A.K.S. event which combines the Adventure Run with a street fair. Booths with activities like face painting, hula hoop competitions and martial arts demonstrations will open at 5pm. Participants will receive raffle tickets for every activity. The Adventure Run map will be revealed at 6:30pm at which time everyone is welcome to walk, jog or run to as many checkpoints on the map as they wish, collecting raffle tickets at each stop, until returning to the Kent Station plaza by 7:45pm. Over $3000 in raffle prizes will be announced and the $1 beer garden will be open. Agave Cocina & Cantina is hosting the family friendly after party where more raffle tickets and prizes will be given.

One of the most important activities will be helping Communities In Schools of Kent “Fill the Bus” with school supplies as the culmination of their summer-long school supply drive. They will host a school bus at the event and anyone who brings donations of school supplies and/or cash will receive double raffle tickets.
