S.O.A.K.S. (Summer’s {almost} Over At Kent Station) Agave after party

 KentStation_redNEWS RELEASE

S.O.A.K.S. (Summer’s {almost} Over At Kent Station)

Free Family Event

Kent, Washington, August 10, 2015– Kent Station is partnering with Road Runner Sports to host a fun end-of-summer event for the whole family. Ramsay Way will be shut down to make room for activity booths as well as a bouncy house, gyroscope and an obstacle course sponsored in part by Clowns Unlimited.

Road Runner Sports puts on an Adventure Run the third Thursday of every month from April through October. This year will be the third annual S.O.A.K.S. event which combines the Adventure Run with a street fair. Booths with activities like face painting, hula hoop competitions and martial arts demonstrations will open at 5pm. Participants will receive raffle tickets for every activity. The Adventure Run map will be revealed at 6:30pm at which time everyone is welcome to walk, jog or run to as many checkpoints on the map as they wish, collecting raffle tickets at each stop, until returning to the Kent Station plaza by 7:45pm. Over $3000 in raffle prizes will be announced and the $1 beer garden will be open. Agave Cocina & Cantina is hosting the family friendly after party where more raffle tickets and prizes will be given.

One of the most important activities will be helping Communities In Schools of Kent “Fill the Bus” with school supplies as the culmination of their summer-long school supply drive. They will host a school bus at the event and anyone who brings donations of school supplies and/or cash will receive double raffle tickets.

For more information about the event and to register for the Adventure Run, visit the Kent Station website at www.kentstation.com or contact Cynthia Tanis at 253-856-2301.

Agave Cocina & Cantina adds Kent Station location

Contemporary Mexican Cuisine

For Immediate Release: May 22, 2011 Kent, WA

Julian Ramos, founder of the popular Agave Cocina & Cantina restaurant in Redmond is opening a second location at Kent Station, (Kent, WA). The site, which is on Ramsay Way, across from The Ram and Green Valley College is a rustic, brick walled space with high, open ceilings defined by massive steel beams. There is a cozy bar, open kitchen and gracious interior seating. Two fire places and two patios (one year-around) flank the entrance leading to the restaurant’s welcoming reception area.

Mexican art and handy-crafts acquired by Ramos from San Cayetano, near Guadalajara (Jalisco) Mexico, where he was born and raised will farther enhance the already attractive space. “We had been looking for an additional restaurant location for a while, Julian states. When we open Agave Cocina and Cantina Kent Station in May, guests will enjoy Agave’s food and hand-picked sipping tequila selection in a strikingly distinctive setting.”

Menu items such as wood fired, Mexican Torta Sandwiches, with achiote marinated chicken breast, bacon, pepper jack, lemon scallion aioli cilantro-jicama slaw, tomatoes, pickled red onion, guacamole on a ciabatta roll, join a large selection of appetizers, tacos, burritos, entrees, sides and desserts. The menu avoids preservatives, lard and is almost 90% gluten free and organic whenever possible. For summer, the Grilled Sirloin Steak Salad, romaine, tomatoes, avocado, corn, roasted red peppers, radish, toasted pumpkin seeds, quesa fresca and creamy, cilantro lime dressing will be a favorite.

Specialty cocktails feature Agave’s impressive selection of premium, hard to find and limited production tequilas, highlight scratch Margaritas in fresh lime and fruit combinations. Also offering a great selection of tap micro brews, that will rotate often. Owner Julian Ramos is a tequila expert in his own right, Agave Restaurants host tequila tastings regularly.
