Agave Cocina Brings its own Tequila to the Northwest

Press Release

Agave Cocina Brings its own Tequila to the Northwest
June 17, 2013

Issaquah, WA – In April 2013, Federico Ramos, co-owner of Agave Restaurants, led a team to Casa Herradura in the heart of Mexico’s tequila region to select just one barrel. The tequila they chose was to be the basis for a unique, limited-edition tequila made only for Agave Restaurants.

After aging the chosen tequila in a new oak cask, Herradura representatives will be bringing the Agave tequila to Agave for its debut. Agave will receive 240 numbered and dated bottles of the hand-crafted double reposado tequila, and the finished barrel for display.

Agave will be one of the few restaurants in the area to have its own tequila. It will be available only at the Agave Cocina restaurants in Issaquah and Redmond.

The Ramos family has owned restaurants on the Eastside for many years; however they have their origins in the heart of tequila country, Jalisco, MX. Bringing a new tequila that reflects the taste and spirit of Agave to the Northwest represents a return to their roots and the opportunity to share the richness of tequila culture here in the Northwest.

About Agave Cocina Restaurants

Agave is committed to sharing the rich history, variety and experience of tequilas and other Mexican spirits. Each location stocks almost 150 different tequilas and Mescals. Tequila events are held at our restaurants on a regular basis. Agave is active in tequila events in the Seattle area. Offering the Agave tequila is a way to share another dimension of the culture of fine tequilas.

Locally owned and operated, Agave Cocina has locations in Redmond and Issaquah.

About Casa Herradura

In production since 1870, Casa Herradura is one of the oldest producers of tequila.

Located and produced in the heart of Mexico’s tequila region, in the tiny town of Amatitan, Jalisco, Tequila Herradura is 100 percent blue agave tequila crafted using traditional methods.

Vertical Flight of Special Artisanal Tequila

To begin, we savor a vertical flight of a blanco, reposado and añejo from the same artisanal distillery.

Taste the blanco. What qualities make it special?

Now taste the reposado and finally the añejo. What has the aging process added?

Cocktails

If tequilas are unique, what happens to the taste in a cocktail? Does the tequila used really matter? You be the judge.

Taste two cocktails made with tequilas from our tasting. And then try another with something entirely different. We will complete the festivities with delicious food from Agave.
